Papas arrugás (2021)
The task for this project was to design a ceramic set for a regional dish, being that a big chunk of my life was spent in Canary Islands, I chose the dish called papas arrugadas (or papas arrugás) which consists of potatoes boiled in extremely salted water that after reducing, covers them and wrinkles the skin.
The design was made to inspire some fun into sharing the dish, making the form round easy to pick up. In this way, sharing a meal that is meant for sharing, becomes even more fun.
I went through a quite unconventional creative process, because the round shapes were made by filling up condoms with plaster, which later was used to make a mould for the clay slurry.
